What is Gua Sha?
Gua Sha, or scraping, is an ancient Chinese procedure that involves the scraping of the skin to improve body circulation. It is believed to release stagnant qi or energy that causes inflammation or chronic pains.
How It Works
By the use of a gua sha massage tool, a practitioner will scrape the skin, alternating between short and/or long strokes to stimulate blood flow. This is generally done on a person’s back, buttocks, neck, face, arm or leg.
Application
A typical gua sha treatment lasts for about 15 to 30 minutes. Gua Sha has proven to be effective in the treatment of the following conditions:
